Best Time to Visit Orlando

The subtropical climate in Florida means it’s beautifully warm all year round! Summers can get hot with highs of 92°F and it’s quite humid too so in case you are sensitive to humidity, best avoid the months between June and September. That’s also the rainy season in Orlando but usually there are only relatively quick passing rain showers. It’s really worth bringing a rain poncho as they will charge a lot for one in any of the parks.

Even in winter there are highs in the low 70s F - ideal for exploring the endless activities that Orlando has to offer! Rarely and particularly at night, Orlando can have lows in the low 50s F- so pack a jacket if travelling at that time of year! Spring and fall with temperatures in the high 70s F are a fantastic time to visit, especially if you’re planning lots of outdoor fun. Note that the hurricane season runs from August until October.

Things to know about Orlando

With 45.3 million visitors each year, Orlando, which is located in central Florida, is called the ‘capital of tourists’. It was only in the 60s when Orlando started to flourish. That was when Walt Disney had the crazy idea to build a gigantic theme park in the middle of the Florida swamp land. And so he did and many others followed him. Today Orlando offers around 50 different theme parks. Combined with the ideal weather conditions and beautiful landscape, it’s the No 1 travel destination in the US.

• Gatorland is an incredibly beautiful and huge nature park where you can observe all sorts of alligators and snakes.
• Sea World combines the watching of animals like whales and dolphins with some great roller coasters.
• One enormous theme park is the Universal Orlando Resort. The Universal Studios Florida allow unforgettable views into the world of movies, whereas the Universal’s Island of Adventure offers absolutely everything for Harry Potter fans and roller coaster lovers! Within the Universal Orlando Resorts awaits the City Walk which offers huge cinema complexes, shows, bars and restaurants.

• Probably the best known theme park is the Walt Disney World Resort which combines several theme parks. Everything is possible here from safaris to roller coasters and pictures with Donald Duck and the Disney Princesses.
• The Kennedy Space Center is located slightly outside Orlando but is well worth a visit. You can find out the details about all the American space flights since 1968.
• For some relaxation between all the action, visit the nearby Daytona Beach. Over 20 miles of beautiful white sand beaches attracts many visitors as well as locals doing their daily workout, jogging or cycling along the beach.

• The Lake Eola Park impresses with its beautiful fountain, walking paths and wonderfully decorated Chinese temple.
• You shouldn't miss a ride on an airboat through the Everglades to observe some stunning nature!
• Orlando is also a paradise for anyone into shopping. The most loved Florida Mall offers over 200 shops. The high end Mall at Millenia should be visited with a rather full wallet and those after some great deals should visit the Prime Outlet.
• Party lovers should head to the International Drive for some great live music and shows. The Hard Rock Café and many karaoke bars can be found on the City Walk. And the real clubs are to be found in Downtown Orlando.
