Hilton Head Island Weather in September

Averages By Month

September Overview

September, together with the other months in the shoulder seasons, is the most beautiful time to visit Hilton Head Island. Temperatures are in the low 80s F but the Atlantic Ocean has still kept its summer water temperature of 82°F and the sun still shines for 7 hours each day on average. And while there are still some -usually short- rain showers around on an average of 8 rainy days, these start to ease a bit together with the decreasing temperatures. Still at night it won’t get colder than 69°F - so you can really enjoy the evenings out as well. Note: September is within the peak hurricane season!

As daytime temperatures start to become more pleasant compared to the summer heat during the months before, September is a great time to get active in Hilton Head Island. Play some golf, cycle or explore the great outdoors by visiting the Coastal Discovery Museum. It’s an absolutely ideal time to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in the United States as well as some of the greatest culinary and lifestyle experiences.
