In April the main reason to head to Indio in the Coachella Valley is the eponymous Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival and here you find an overview of what to expect and how to prepare for the weather.
Coachella Valley is a desert valley and as you would expect, it does get hot! In April the average daytime highs reach 87°F. At the same time the days are long with 13 hours of daylight and a lot of sun- one thing to certainly not forget is a good factor 50 sunscreen. Given it’s a desert, temperatures drop quite a bit as the sun sets and at times it cools down to 60°F so you might want to pack a sweater as the party certainly won’t stop with the sunset. The other great news is that it’s super dry in April in the Coachella Valley with not a single rainy day to be expected. So no need to worry about your tent being washed away. However, there will be lots of dust and you’re likely to be thirsty quite often so be sure to prepare by filling some extra bottles of water!
Here is a great guide on how to survive the festival with lots of tips on where to stay, what to pack, what to eat and how to cope with the crowds!
