From May on, the weather in the Interior region becomes rather mild with temperature highs reaching 60°F and temperature lows around 37°F during the night. It is then more comparable to the climate of the Southern regions with daytime temperatures of 55°F and nighttime temperatures of 42°F.

Alaska's peak season also starts now with all the national parks being a popular tourist attraction. May brings days when the sun does not dip before 11pm in the Interior region and does not set at all up north. This is when the time to see northern lights is over. Like April, May is a comparatively dry month. Still, it is likely to be cloudy most of the time in the Southern regions.
