Alaska Weather in June

Averages By Month

June is one of the best months to travel to Alaska. For one thing, the most sunshine hours are to be found in June (up to 22h/day) and temperatures are mild ranging from around 48°F during the night to 70°F during the day in most parts of the state. Also, winds and clouds are less prominent in June.

June has the best weather conditions for hiking in the many national parks and enjoying Alaska’s spectacular scenery and wildlife. Do not forget your bug repellent in the morning! Mosquitoes like this warm, windless weather in particular where there is stagnant water. And tourists like it as well so expect higher rates and more people at attraction sites the later in June it is.

In the Arctic region temperatures during the day do not exceed 40°F but nights become a lot less harsh at around 28°F. The sun never sets up there and there is less wind and storm. In the Arctic region of Alaska and at the glaciers, dog mushing can be done all year round.
