Alaska Weather in July

Averages By Month

July offers the highest temperatures, exceeding 70°F, in Alaska’s Interior and Southern parts during the day and not dropping below 50°F during the night. Even in the Arctic region temperatures climb to 45°F during the day and the temperature does not drop below 30°F thanks to the midnight sun. In July you can always gaze at the crystalline blue of the glaciers.

It is rarely rainy in the Arctic region all year round and so is the case with the Alaska weather in July. If there is precipitation in the Arctic region, it is usually snow and it is less windy than during all the other months. So you can enjoy winter sports activities all year round. While it is comparatively less rainy at the coastal areas in July, you should be prepared for several rainy days if you check out the Valdez Fish Derbies in the Interior region.

The warm weather in Alaska in summer is also preferred by mosquitoes so have a bug repellent ready! Due to the mild weather, July in Alaska is a perfect month for outdoor adventures like snowmobiling all over the state. Be aware that July is recommended as one of the best months to travel to Alaska which causes higher prices and more tourists.
